Avant Arte wants to make art radically more accessible for a new generation. The company began as a cult blog of contemporary artists and grew organically into the world’s largest and most engaged online art community, with more than 2 million of their followers under the age of 35. The company collaborates with iconic contemporary artists like Jenny Holzer, Cai Guo-Qiang, Claire Tabouret and Hank Willis Thomas, making their work more accessible to younger collectors through sculpture editions, print editions and unique works on paper of exceptional quality. And they have built a highly engaged community of next-generation art collectors, which means Avant Arte’s artist launches are heavily oversubscribed, with many behaving more like fashion drops, selling out in under 30 seconds.
The company’s vision is to inspire a generation of millions of young people who love art like they love music and who collect works like they build their wardrobe.
We’re currently a team of 50, split between London and Amsterdam, looking to scale to more than 100 over the next 6 months. This is a great opportunity to join a highly successful, profitable, early-stage business at a pivotal moment in our growth, where you will have a big impact from day one.

WHAT WE NEED
Reporting into the Marketing Director, this role puts you in charge of the world’s largest online community of young art fans. You will be responsible for continuing to grow our 2.4m followers on Instagram whilst maintaining high levels of engagement. You will be central in bringing to life our artists and their works for our passionate community of collectors and followers. We don’t rely on physical shows or exhibitions to connect artists with our audience, so the work we do on social media needs to be that much more immersive and inspiring. To date we’ve only focused on Instagram, but we want you to come in and take us into new social territory.
The core of your role will involve:
Developing our social media strategy with clear KPIs and driving its implementation across multiple channels and regions.
Managing our @avant.arte and @avantarteinsiders Instagram communities - transforming the levels of interactive engagement across both
Developing and growing our communities on Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, YouTube and deciding where else.
Connecting and building relationships with influencers in the artworld and the broader cultural ecosystem, leveraging their networks to help grow ours.
Planning the perfect mix of curatorial and commercial posts.
Planning and managing a quarterly posting schedule - working closely with the content team to make sure you have the assets you need to drive growth and engagement
Tracking, reporting and optimising our content across all social networks, systemising our growth and engagement using data and interactive feedback loops.
The main skills we’re looking for are:
Passionate about social media: with a love and appreciation of art and have a natural affinity with our audiences
Social media savvy: with an understanding of the role social media plays in the marketing mix and what it contributes culturally and commercially.
Commercially focussed: with a proven track record of growing social communities and driving engagement for top cultural brands or will have built your own incredible channel.
Analytical and strategic: with experience in creating social media plans for, and been in charge of executing social campaigns on Instagram, Twitter, FB, Linkedin, TikTok (Pinterest? Snapchat? Tumblr? Weibo? other networks a bonus).
Value engagement : with experience responding and interacting with social media communities, following up on the content we share to maximise its impact and strengthen lifetime engagement.
Exceptional communication skills: with writing and editor skills - knowing how to inject tone without adding words and you’ll also have an impressive attention to detail.
Eye for detail: with an amazing eye for design and be a good designer for social - having worked for brands where the perfect balance of image and written word are key - you’ll be able design concise, impactful Stories.
Excellent project management skills: with the ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders
Highly motivated: with experience working in a fast moving environment.
Collaborative: with the ability to inspire people across departments about the potential of what we can achieve with social.
We think you’ll probably have:
Worked for a top cultural brand, publisher or high growth start-up - we imagine for 5+ years, but if you’ve got the above experience in less time, even better.
