ABOUT AVANT ARTE


Avant Arte wants to make art radically more accessible for a new generation.

The company began as a cult blog of contemporary artists, initially inspired through rap lyrics and hip-hop album covers. That blog grew organically into the world’s largest and most engaged online art community, with more than 2 million of their followers under the age of 35.

The company collaborates with iconic contemporary artists like Jenny Holzer, Cai Guo-Qiang, Claire Tabouret and the Chapman brothers, making their work more accessible to younger collectors through sculpture editions, print editions and unique works on paper. And they have built a highly engaged community of next-generation art collectors, which means Avant Arte’s artist launches are heavily oversubscribed, with many behaving more like fashion drops, selling out in under 30 seconds.

The company’s vision is to inspire a generation of millions of young people who love art like they love music and who collect works like they build their wardrobe.

We’re currently a team of 40, split between London and Amsterdam, looking to scale to 60+ over the next 6 months. This is a great opportunity to join a highly successful early stage business at a pivotal moment in our growth, where you will have impact from day one. As a member of the marketing team, you’ll be involved in fast-paced, endlessly-varied projects with culture-defining artists and curators.

Requirements

WHAT WE NEED

 

Reporting into the Marketing Director, this role puts you in charge of leading and growing our content capability. You will be responsible for creating the content and assets that excite and inspire our global community of artists, curators, collectors and over 2.4m followers on Instagram. We are growing fast, with the number of launches accelerating rapidly and you will be responsible for ensuring that our unique access to artists continues to allow us to create exceptional content at scale.

 

The core of your role will involve:

 

Leadership 

  • Leading the Content Team to create category defining content.

  • Working closely with the Marketing, Product, Sales, Artist and Production Teams to develop a content strategy that delivers and builds on each team’s requirements and our mission as a brand. 

  • Establishing KPIs for the Content Team and content performance and reporting on them to key stakeholders and the business as a whole.

  • Overseeing multiple content types, including but not limited to video, photography, artist bios, product descriptions, journal pages, SEO and meta descriptions. 

  • Heading up the recruitment process to ensure we’re attracting the best talent in the industry at pace.

  • Establishing a highly motivated, dynamic and creative Content Team culture.

  • Being a guardian and a champion for the brand and the role content can play in building it.

 

Content creation & management

  • Introducing the processes that allow us to scale rapidly without compromising the experience we give artists and the content we produce for our community.

  • Concepting and exploring new content types such as print and longer format film. 

  • Working closely with the different teams to track and understand the performance and ROI of our content as it’s disseminated through our channels - taking the learnings and iterating our approach and processes.

  • Carefully managing and reporting against the content budget - understanding the ROI for internal and external resources. 

  • Establishing a solid plan for what we create in-house and where we need to further establish our external creative network. 

  

 The main skills we’re looking for are:

  • You’re an inspiring leader: with experience in scaling and managing large teams whilst inspiring people across departments about the potential of what we can achieve with our content.

  • You think and act strategically: with a proven track record for developing content strategies that deliver tangible brand and business impact.

  • You have an entrepreneurial spirit: and see opportunities for content to deliver value beyond your remit.

  • You thrive in a fast moving environment: and have the ability to streamline processes within your team and the broader business.

  • You’re well organised: with excellent project management skills

  • You’re commercially focused: with experience managing budgets and aligning content ROI against your own and the business priorities.


We think you’ll probably have:

  • Worked for a top culture and or tech brand, publisher or high growth start-up 

  • We imagine 8+ years in a similar position, but if you’ve got the above experience in less time, even better.
